Drawn To You: Gio Black Peter

Imagine it. You walk into a bar to see one of your favorite musicians perform. The place is sweaty and packed, but that isn’t stopping anyone from trying to dance. All of a sudden, the music stops and some twinky dude in black briefs walks onto the stage. He then proceeds to rap about cake and fucking.

Pretty surreal, right? Well, that was my first encounter with Gio Black Peter. Although I’m still not sure what to make of that experience, it later became clear that I’m a fan of his art. Equipped with some sharpies and paint pens, Gio turns subway maps or discarded paper scraps into works of art.

Sure, he’s no Degas or Monet, but his haphazard style is undeniably eye-catching. And the recurring themes of well-hung men and politics don’t hurt either. While this may not be everyone’s cup of tea, we’d love to hear what you guys think of these pieces.

  1. Nice to see a gay artist who’s actually doing something artistic and not just drawing jo pictures.

  2. Those sure look like pedophile pics to me. Not trying to start something. Just saying. Those are BOYS in those drawings, not men. He’s hot, but the pics bother me.
