Could Adam Lambert Lose American Idol?

Kris Allen, Adam Lambert

Every American Idol winner has had two things in common with one another. They're all southern and Christian. So what makes you think that a potentially gay, California-native with an ambiguous religious background could take home the prize?

Currently, Dial Idol is showing Kris Allen with a very slight lead over Adam Lambert, but it's far too close to call at the moment. The site measures the busy signal for each contestant's numbers, and has previously predicted the winner of every Idol season they've covered.

But look on the bright side–if Lambert doesn't win, he probably won't have to release that shitty Kara DioGuardi song as a single! Plus, previous non-winners like Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken and Kellie Pickler are proof that you don't have to win the show to reach star status.

  1. I don’t watch the show except the snippits I see on the news but it seems to me that Lambert is quite talented and deserves to win. However, there is a huge Christian viewing population in the states, scared to death of anything the slightest bit different. If Simon Cowell wants Lambert to win then I have to believe he is the more deserving. I wish we could just leave the “gay” or maybe gay” part out of it and base it on talent alone, as the show originally intended

  2. Personally I dont think it matters whether he is gay or not. I do not think he has a good voice. Well unless he decided to sing for some a band like AC/DC or another like it. But for the songs I have seen him sing on the show his voice is no good.

  3. The last Canadian Idol was gay – Theo Tams, his album just came out today, it’s pretty good.

  4. Who cares if Adam is gay or not. Wanting Adam to win so we have a “gay American Idol” is as bad as the conservatives wanting Chris (or Danny) to win because they are Christian. It should be about the music.
Adam very talented at what he does, but his sound doesn’t fit whats popular at the moment. He proved that last night with that awful last song. Kris has mass appeal and is much more radio-friendly.

  5. Well, Chris is the new Idol.
Adam kicked butt singing the hell out of “Mad World”…but his style is more Broadway and less recording artist. And then there’s him channeling howler monkeys for his rock interpretations. I’m sure he could headline Vegas with sold-out shows.
