A spokeswoman for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the agency does not track deaths from infant circumcision because they are exceedingly rare. In the agency’s last mortality report, which looked at all deaths in the country in 2010, no circumcision-related deaths were found.

3. It is weird. Circumcised should be the “un” state, but our language makes the circumcised penis central, as if it is the default state. There’s a way around this, though: drop the “uncircumcised” or “uncut” label and start calling them “intact.”

The american academy of pediatrics makes money from circumcision : each male birth brings in $300-$800 from the procedure, the foreskins are then sold to cosmetic companies like Intercytex or Skinmedica ( price range $400-$600, I’ll provide a link if you want as they are on sale on the internet) who make face creams for older women out of body parts harvested from unwilling patients. Oprah Winfrey promoted one of these creams on her show. So foreskins are sold 3 TIMES, there is a lot of money to be made out of them.

   The only reason why they change their stance on that is because more states (under Medicare) and insurance companies have stopped funding the procedure, which resulted in considerable drops in the number of routine circumcisions.

   Their statement has been vividly criticized by non-american doctors, many of them co-signed an article to reply to this statement, the title is
   “Cultural Bias in the AAP’s 2012 Technical Report and Policy Statement on Male Circumcision”, I suggest you go read it.
   The data from the african studies is flawed and has been debunked on many occasions.

   If you want proof that circumcision does not prevent STIs, you just look at the American STI Rates VS Europe for instance, where circumcision is rare, and America is higher in ALL cases. So it doesn’t protect you at all , they fuck you over and you’re not left with a choice. It’s ethically wrong to make an amputation ( which is normally always a last resort in medicine, except for THIS “disposable”part, which exists only on the male apparently…) on an unwilling patient who doesn’t suffer from any disease.

   I know they don’t tend to connect the circumcision with the death because they die from infection or they bleed to death , so the cause they can put is “infection” or “haemorrage”, but when you look closer you can link them to the unnecessary procedure they underwent , which is the root cause. This article was published in a peer-reviewed journal so unless you have something better to provide…

   If you want a recent example of an american baby who died from the procedure, look up ” Brayden Tyler Frazier ” for instance. It’s not something you’re gonna hear on the news I guess…

   Also hundreds of deaths each year from the procedure in Africa ( recently 33 in a single week in SOuth Africa, look it up).

   In New York , some babies have also died from herpes because the rabbi sucked their penis’ blood in the “traditional” ceremony. The parents did not even report him.

   All I’m saying is that it’s unethical to deprive a HEALTHY child of his most sensitive body part, no other human body part has been deemed “extra” or “disposable” except for that one, and you should know that the reason why it was first introduced in the US was because it was thought to make masturbation more difficult for young boys, it’s a punitive surgery. The health and hygiene part only came later. Female genital mutilation was legal in the US until 1996…it had “health benefits” too until then.

   In a nutshell: wearing condoms is a lot more efficient than cutting the most sensitive body part of someone against his will to prevent STIs.

5. Here I’ll agree with you. Circumcision is a foul, barbaric mutilation, especially when being done to an infant. It should only be done if medically necessary and with anesthesia.
