Picture it. August 5th, 1989 in Los Angeles. A group of young kinky queers came together to premiere a new night club dedicated to all things fetish, birthing a cultural movement and ensuring that the LA nightlife scene would never be the same. Among the hosts were Miguel Beristain, Cliff Diller, James Stone and Sweet P (who you may have seen on Project Runway).
The weekly event was called CLUB FUCK, and it was an instant hit–launching the careers of numerous artists. The location itself, Le Barcito in Silverlake, CA (originally called The Black Cat), had its own place in history. On January 1st, 1967, two years before the Stonewall riots, the first gay rebellion against the LAPD occurred there.
This Wednesday, August 5th, will mark the 20th anniversary of the original opening, and the organizers are asking that you join them for a night of original performances and artwork. Check out the flyer above!
