Celebrity Skin (Vintage Edition): Oliver Reed And Alan Bates

Let’s hop in the wayback machine for today’s “Celebrity Skin”. Director Ken Russell’s film adaption of famed author D.H. Lawrence’s Women In Love scandalized the world way back in 1969. It’s reportedly the first time the general public saw two cocks flopping freely on the silver screen. It wasn’t just a simple locker room scene, either. Actors Oliver Reed and Alan Bates engaged in some fireside nude wrestling. Hot and gay! Watch the vid after the jump. Do you find it sexy or silly?

Russell recently died, so let’s take a moment to salute his genius in really going for it with this scene. Screw using certain angles, and quick cuts. Dude gave us the dick! R.I.P. Kenny.

  1. amazing vid.  it came off as more real and much hotter than half of the “wrestling” porn scenes around where they just try too damn hard

  2. I always enjoy a display of the naked male body in all its glorious muscular form without blatent sexual overtones.

Although the not-so-subtle sexual overtones in this clip ensured I had a boner the entire time I watched it!

  3. It was one HOT scene and one that still stands up today. Belive me I jacked plenty of times to that movie at the time. Love It.

  4. Great too see two English actors at their prime not afraid of  showing their bodies so long ago. Wish they to do a remake with two hot actors of today. Not sure actors today would expose themselves so honestly.

  5. And Alan Bates was bisexual, who had a long, consuming affair with ice skater John Curry. Bates also played gay in “Butley” (1974), “Nijinsky” (1980, as Sergei Diaghilev) and “We Think the World of You” (1988).

As for Russell, he also explored — with varying degrees of success — gay themes in “The Music Lovers” (1970, starring Richard Chamberlain as Tchaikovsky) and “Valentino” (1977, starring Rudolf Nureyev as Rudolph Valentino, which only hints at Valentino’s bisexuality by having him dance a tango with…Nijinsky!).

  6. absolutely sexy as all fuck….if I’d have seen this at first release I’d have had a hard time staying still in my theater seat…….two very handsome men, good bods, REAL bods, and real wrestling.  You know the sweat is real. Woof.

  7. Wonderfully erotic. Made me realise I was Gay all those years ago. Don’t forget the equally memorable scene where Alan Bates walks naked through a corn field.

  8. I saw this scene on A&E a long time ago. You’d never see a scene like this on regular cable today — without a lot of blurring and editing.
