California Wives: “Purple”

California Wives

Wow! You guys really seem to care about my opinion on music. Yesterday, I forgot the embed code in my post about P!nk‘s “Try” music video, and nobody bothered to tell me that the clip wasn’t there. You should go watch that video if you haven’t. The choreography is downright spectacular (and the male dancer is smoking hot).

All in all, it’s sort of weird how the color pink’s been a recurring theme this week, isn’t it? We kicked off the week with Korean girl group Orange Caramel gracing our pages in pink, polka-dot dresses. We moved on to Mike Hadreas of Perfume Genius wearing a pair of pink heels for his new track “Take Me Home”. And while the boys of Lord Huron didn’t stick to the theme, I would gladly invite the bearded guy to tongue-fuck my hairy, pink hole.

Today, however, is brought to you by the color purple.

California Wives are a shoegaze-ish quarter I came across awhile back, and I largely fell in love with them thanks to their song “Blood Red Youth”. They’re currently on tour with Diamond Rings and Stars. If you’re lucky enough to be in or near Dallas, Houston or Austin this weekend, you should check out their show.

(I missed their Boston gig last month at Paradise. Were any of you fine gentlemen in attendance? How was the show? Did you make out with someone who should have been me?)

The band released the music video for “Purple” this past Wednesday, and while it wouldn’t be my first choice for a single, you won’t hear any other complaints from my corner of the peanut gallery… If you enjoy this, be sure to check out their debut LP Art History. “Twenty Three”, in particular, is another personal favorite.
