Aural Only: Wynter Gordon

Feeling down in the dumps? Are you in need of a little positive affirmation? Is your life calling for another gay anthem? If you answered “yes” to any or all of these questions, then you need not look any further than Wynter Gordon‘s “Putting It Out There (Pride)”. The thumping dance track acted as the official theme song for this past weekend’s 2011 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, and it’ll definitely put some spring in your step.

Hey, we know what some of you snarky bitches are thinking–“Isn’t it a bit late for another ‘It Gets Better’ empowerment anthem?” Well, sit the fuck down and listen up, smarty-pants! This track actually leaked several months ago, and this particular version has been revamped for the occasion. And by revamped, we mean they added handclaps. As well as some other awesome stuff.

Word on the street is that Wynter will soon be announcing the follow-up to her hit dance single “Dirty Talk”, and we have a sneaking suspicion that she’ll be making a few more appearances throughout pride season. So here’s the big question–why aren’t you paying more attention to this gay icon in the making?

  1. Her performance at Mardi Gras was fantastic. She deserves all the popularity she should have coming to her. And Dirty Talk was easily the unofficial song of the week here.
