Aural Only: Stevie Nicks

Move the fuck over, Britney Spears! A real “living legend” has stepped into the house. Rock icon Stevie Nicks will be releasing her seventh studio album on May 3, making this her first original solo project since 2001’s Trouble In Shangri-La. Last week, the singer unleashed her lead single “Secret Love”, a song that’s been floating around unfinished since the seventies.

Honestly, there aren’t any words to describe Stevie Nicks when she hits the right spot. Case in point? Her voice alone can drive grown men to stick candles up their butts. If that’s not powerful, then I don’t know what is! “Secret Love” is no exception to this rule, and while it won’t receive an overwhelming amount of mainstream attention in this day and age… We’ll definitely be wearing it out on our iPods!

  1. She sounds pretty good for almost 65! Hard to believe but Stevie will be collecting Social Security shortly after the release of this new CD. Her 65th is May 26. How depressing is that!

  3. She is on tour this spring with Rod Stewart. Two living legends on the same stage. It’s great to see real talent still in the business.

  4. Stevie Nicks! (*squeals*) Ef Britney, and GaGa and all those HSM chicks. Stevie Nicks is a true diva. She may be pushing 65, but she is still a fox and can still sing like no one else.

  5. I agree with above comments- Stevie is back! Will be buying this CD when released (sorry still old-school) not into IPods.

To compare her to Britney is a joke.

    Let’s see- Cher (64) Dolly (65) Stevie (65)
    Diana (66) Barbra (68)- priceless!

    Britney (29)- tasteless!

  6. I love that her voice conveys the struggles of every human being, and yet wraps you up in a warm comforter on a cold winters day. Its pure, flawed and absolutley memorable. Love Yah Stevie Nicks

  7. The “Living Legend” comments on Britney related posts are getting so old….. We know she sings that in ONE SONG, but c’mon now.

  8. Christopher07 – Age has nothing to do with how talented anyone is. It’s all a matter of opinion in the end so you comparisons are invalid.

  9. Well, Stevie has been having hits for 36 years, let’s see if Britney (I have no talent so I have to lipsync to my processed computerized vocals) Spears will still be around and popular. I doubt it.
@ Mark…age does have something to do with it. Because it is the talent that has kept Barbra strong (and relevant) at the age of 68…her last cd debuted at #1 and outsold both Paramore and Mariah Carey’s latest, both released the same day. The same goes with Cher, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Tina Turner (now 71) and several other older divas! THEIR TALENT HAS KEPT THEM WHERE THEY ARE. But since Britney and most of her contemporaries (Katy Perry, Kesha) have no real talent, they won’t be around half the time of those afforementioned ladies!

    Peace…

  10. To each his own, but as far back as the days of Fleetwood Mac, I’ve never cared for her voice. Lovely to look at, but once the mouth opened… Christine McVie was the much better female vocalist of the group.

  11. This is an incredible song. She is the best song-writer on the planet now. Between hers, Sheryl Crow’s and Sarah McLachlan’s lyrics, you cannot get any better.
