Aural Only: Shakira

Shakira-she-wolf-video

This is just sad. To make up for the poor chart performance of "She Wolf" in the US, Shakira's label has thrown her on a track with both Lil Wayne and Timbaland. Haven't we learned a lesson from Madonna? No matter how hard you cross your fingers, these two guys don't immediately translate to pop hits or relevance. It just comes off as pretty damn desperate.

She Wolf has already been released in other countries. Upon hearing the album, it's understandable why her people are worried this won't work for American audiences. Even so, this shouldn't be the answer. There must be other, less obvious answers. Particularly answers that don't suck (and not in the fun way).

UPDATE: It's quite possible that this is a leak from Timbaland's upcoming album Shock Value 2. In that case, it'd be a little less embarrassing for Shakira.

  1. Sounds like it features Ryan Seacrest, too 🙂
I agree though, Shakira is far too talented to “need” guest artists to sell her records. Boo to her label!

  2. I guess they noticed the video had been leaked to the US. it says not available in your country due to copyright restrictions.

  3. I Like Shakira, Timbaland, & Lil Wayne(occasionally). With that being said this song is not good. It sounds like Timbaland tried to turn her into Nelly Furtado. Ugh it’s not the worse song i’ve ever heard, but I am disappointed to say the least.
