Aural Only: Madonna

Madonna, Revolver

It's been suggested that I have something against Madonna. This is simply not true. I do, however, have something against what she's become–a living pop music legend who's seemingly given up on living up to her name. Perhaps she's just bored with being on the Warner Brothers label, but everything since "Hung Up" has been utterly forgettable and disposable. Will you honestly remember "Give It 2 Me" ten years from now?

Ranting aside, you can probably guess how I feel about "Revolver". This just simply isn't a Madonna song, because anyone could be singing it. Add an unnecessary and uninspired cameo by Lil Wayne, and I'm left wondering what place this has on a supposed greatest hits collection.

  1. I like the beat. With that said her vocals could’ve been stronger, I couldn’t really understand what she was saying.
Lil Wayne will you please go away.

  2. Wow guys, bitchy much?
The song was decent, like most of her stuff nowadays. Nothing great, but not bad either.
Lil Wayne is just well Lil Wayne.
You know you’ll be shaking your ass to this anyways in the clubs, so quit the hate.

  3. dewitt, thank you, and i agree, i even go further back, her pop life post EVITA is largely forgettable crap. With some hints of hope than then are dashed thrown our collectively gay way. 😉

  4. This song is okay. If her vocals were stronger it would be fine. Lil Wayne’s verse was okay. As for her music, I liked Hung up and her more danceable songs. Her last album was overproduced and I hope she works with Paul Oakenfold more.

  5. I still really like Give It to Me! I would play it in ten years and still enjoy it. Her new song isnt that bad either..you know if they played it at some circuit party in Palm Springs you queens would be on the floor..whatevs!

  6. Madonna can’t even get her records played on U.S. radio stations these days because all they spin is hip-hop and rap and it sucks ass!
In other countries, she’s bigger than ever, but over here she has to collaborate with the likes of Lil’Wayne (who will be nobody five years from now) just to get played.
Please, sweet Jesus, allow hip-hop and rap to go the way of acid wash jeans!
