Aural Only: Kylie Minogue

We’re already three singles deep into Kylie Minogue‘s latest album Aphrodite, and it seems like she’s still got a few tricks up her sleeves. The Australian pop diva recently unveiled the music video for “Better Than Today”, which acts as the follow-up to the especially excellent jam “Get Outta My Way”.

While this clip doesn’t incorporate any boys in their underwear, it does throw in references to Pac-Man and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Honestly, we would have preferred a continuation of the orgy from “All The Lovers”… At least the song is kind of good?

  1. I admit it wasn’t my favorite choice for a single, but it’s catchy. I saw her last year performing this during her very short North American tour and I liked it back then. There are tons of remixes out by the best ones are by Bellatrax and my fave is by Bimbo Jones if you guys want to check them out on the Web.

  2. I have to agree somewhat with Jimmy….the song is not the best cut from Aphrodite….the title track or ‘Everything Is Beautiful’ are stronger songs. That being said, it’s still a good song and a fun video. And Kylie looks beautiful as usual. Hope this is on the countdown this week!

  3. Hope next single is “Can’t beat the feeling”. Looking forward to seeing her live now that I’ve got a ticket!!!!

  4. It doesn’t really stand out on the album, but away from the rest of the tracks, it’s still really catchy and fun. Was unsure, but am now so on board.

  5. I previously thought the song was strictly OK. But after seeing the video I can see that it’s got a catchy hook and dancy quality which seemed like the theme of the album. But I have my other favorites on the album which as usual I might not seem in the form of videos. There’s “Aphrodite” the title track which is amazing as it just explodes at the end. And then there is “Cupid Boy” and then there is “Everything is Beautiful”. But then again Kylie/Parlophone doesn’t make the best decisions when it comes to releasing singles. I can list at least 2 other instances in the past where they screwed up.

    1. X- All I See– That track deserved to be a single much more than In My Arms and The One. It ended up being a crappy unimaginative video on YouTube

    2. Body Language – Secret(Take You Home)– I can’t believe they screwed up on this one! This is by far one of the strongest of the album!! You should see the performance in the one-off show she gave for promoting Body Language! It looked phenomenal! Instead they made a video of Chocolate!!! WTF!!

But I must say, Kylie looks gorgeous in the video! In my opinion, the best since her Fever days!

  6. By far not her best song on the cd and the video is boring.

She needs to release Aphrodite as her next single, followed by “Can’t Beat The Feeling.”

This song is mediocre at best.

  7. For sure not close to her best work. It almost sounds pseudo-country/dance. It is not horrible, but there are so many othe choice cuts on this album. “Put Your Hands Up”, “Can’t Beat The Feeling”, “Illusion”, and “Aphrodite” all stand out way more than this song.

Will she ever chart in North America again? I mean Canada doesn’t even play her anymore.

  8. sounds very scissor sisters. worst track on the album

CUPID BOY and HANDS UP were the obvious big hit singles on the album

get outta my way is great but just like wow its too retro stock aitken watermanish, and this is just not a good enough song.

love kylie more than my mother…

  9. K. so this song is pretty blah and I am sooooo suprised you have not shared the greatness of Nicki Minaj’s album that finally came out!!! Come on guys!!!
