Aural Only: Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson, 2010, Make Me

After rocking last night's VMAs, Janet Jackson has decided to treat her fans with a preview of her upcoming 2010 album. The song is entitled "Make Me", and it's streaming now on her official website. There are rumors that this will be her first single, but she's only referred to it as a "very special gift" for her admirers.

"Make Me" grabs on to the disco revival trend that Shakira and Whitney Houston are currently taking advantage of, infusing it with a bit of the hard-edged electro sounds popularized on the latest Black Eyed Peas project. The bridge also seems to reference her deceased brother's hit "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough". What do you think–does this sound like a comeback?

  1. I like it. I don’t love it, but it is growing on me and I like it more than I did after my first listen. At the moment I’m just really happy that she’s still making music and this song is step in the right direction.

  2. Janet still has IT, now that she is not with JD, I think she will have some hits with the next CD. Loved Discipline BTW. Here’s to Janet hopefully making up or continuing with her tour.
