Real men aren’t afraid to admit to their obsession with Fantasia Barrino. Okay, so that may not be entirely true, but it’s how I felt while watching her latest video for “I’m Doin’ Me”. This jam’s one of my favorite tracks from her third album Back To Me , and now it’s slowly making its way up the R&B charts.
Since I’m feeling lazy, here’s an excerpt from my album review regarding this song: “Don’t be discouraged by the first thirteen seconds of opening track ‘I’m Doin’ Me’. It may sound like Fantasia’s about to beam you up into her spaceship and utilize her anal probes, but you’ll bobbing your head along once the piano line kicks in.”
Yup, that pretty much sums it up! There’s definitely an ol’ school element to this song, reminiscent of 1990s classics like Mary J. Blige‘s “Real Love”. Click through to take a listen, and let us know what you think…

Totally love it! Got my toe tappin’ and bouncin’ in my chair. Glad to see Fantasia finally getting some commercial success. She is definitely a unique personality and performer with a voice all her own.
LOVE this song! I bought the album when it came out and this really sets the tone for the whole project. It’s fun, bouncy, and tells a good story. The album is beautifully done, has a good old-school R&B vibe to it.

I never have been a big Fantasia fan, but I’m really enjoying her on this song! Her hair in the video, however, is freaking me out!

Love it. Fantasia puts out some quality tunes every once in a while. Saw her in The Color Purple, she was a perfect Celie….when she bothered to show up that is.
