Aural Only: Enrique Iglesias

We have good news and bad news for fans of Enrique Iglesias. Let’s start with the bad news. His latest single “Heartbeat” includes guest vocals from Nicole Scherzinger, otherwise known as “that chick from the Pussycat Dolls whose last name is impossible to pronounce”. In other words? It’s doomed to fade into pop culture obscurity.

With that said, Enrique is looking extremely sexy in the song’s music video. You can consider that the good news, because otherwise this track is a total snore. The piano line suggests it’s going somewhere epic, but it just remains flat for the entire duration. Basically, it’s a whole lot of wasted potential. Care to disagree?

  1. I agree with you about the piano — it makes you expect the song to go even bigger and better than it already does — but overall I disagree on the premise that it’s a total snore. I really like it. The lyrics are deep, and I can already see this going heavy rotation on my iPod.

  2. I disagree that the song’s a snore. I actually think it’s pretty sexy, and once the DJ remixers jump on it, it could be VERY catchy! EI definitely looks sexy in there…he could steal my heartbeat anyday!! Woof.

  3. the chorus is utterly stupid and boring.
‘i can feel ur hearbeat’? that’s it? seriosuly?
as much as i love enrique, i think his last 2 singles are just crap.

btw, nicole’s surname is very easy.
it is pronounced like Cher + singer, except for ‘z’ instead of ‘s’ in singer.
Repeat after me: singer Cher, zinger Cher, Cher zinger, Scherzinger! lol!

  4. Totally monotonous and boring. Enrique is so cute, though, it’ll probably still be a hit, particularly because he’s coming off his first big hit in years. And you forgot the most important part of Nicole’s resume…she won last season’s “Dancing With The Stars”! How soon we forget such monumental cultural feats.

  5. There are remixes of this song out. One is by Cutmore and another by Digital Dog. The song is boring. Have to pass on it. Yawn.

  6. Beautiful video, really. I also really think the song is great. A different approach to the ballad. Will definitely be getting this as the single version and probably the mixes, although, Digital Dog is a bore. Glad you posted, though. After that last atrocious single, I’d probably have ignored this.

  7. I disagree with you…don’t think it’s a snore. It’s a nice romantic song and he looks cute as always and she looks pretty hot. They make a good match vocally and physically!

  8. I can see it going both ways. The video is awesome, but it’s success is a toss-up. I still like the song though. AND THAT MAN IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!! haha

  9. Spot on Dewitt, the riff suggests a build to a break, but never gets there, Hopefully somone will grab a mix and put this into the potential, drop a couple minor 8ths and an acending glisando and it could hit the floor!

In the mean time at least we get to look at Enrique, 🙂

  10. Enrique Iglesias can NOT sing. He is not at all a talented vocalist. The crappy song he has on the radio right now is so autotuned I’m not sure he sang any of it at all. He needs to stop and become a model. A SILENT model.

  11. The song is OK, but the remixes didn’t do anything for me. I think is that piano problem. Too much anticipation and never delivers. I guess this one is a shoe in for the Top 10 this weekend along with Willow Smith. I still prefer to see King of Leon there with their new single.

  12. Enrique could sing a phone book to me…that incredibly hott sexxxy man…He’s the kind of man to marry while Ricky Martin is a man you play with…Do any of you remember the concert he did at a gay club in London and invited one of the concert goers on stage while singing “Hero”
