Aural Only: Cheryl Cole

It’s time for another solo album from Cheryl Cole of UK pop group Girls Aloud! The singer’s sophomore effort will be entitled Messy Little Raindrops, and she’s kicking things off with her new single “Promise This”. While the song is a bit of a mess, it’s catchy enough that she’ll probably gain another top ten hit.

According to sources, the second single will be “an enormo-ballad called ‘The Flood’, a massive, strong-laden, Christmassy tear-jerker about wreckage, drowning and natural disaster love.” In other words, it’s going to be terrible. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves… what do you think of this jam?

  1. She is nothing compared to Girls Aloud.

    Songs like:

    Biology
    Something Kinda Oooh
    Sound of the Underground
    Sexy! No no no
    The Show

    are just beyond awesome…

Cheryl’s solo effort is just lackluster at most.

  2. Had I known it was her the first time I heard it, I probably wouldn’t have liked it. I like it more each time I hear it, though. Fully hooked now.

  3. The song is not that bad. Not as good as Fight for this love or 3 Words, but should be on the countdown this weekend and hopefully competing against Nadine Coyle’s single “Insatiable” since she will be releasing an album around the same time as Cheryl. Would be interesting to see which Girl Aloud gets more votes.
