Aural Only: B.o.B. & Hayley Williams

“Airplanes” is currently one of the most popular songs in the country, so it seems that you’d be in the minority if you don’t like it. As far as I can tell, it’s basically another song on which the artist complains about being famous, yet this somehow becomes less irritating thanks to Hayley Williams‘ awesomeness.

The unlikely combination of hip-hop newbie B.o.B. and the Paramore lead singer makes for a jam that will surely be blasted out of car windows for the duration of this summer. But does it have what it takes to succeed on our Weekly Top Ten? Stay tuned in to find out!

  1. Hayley’s OK, B.o.B. sucks. Testimony to the sorry state of pop music and the triumph of the lowest common denominator in American culture and intellect.

  2. Yeah I’m not a B.O.B. fan at all and the only reason i sort of like this song is because the parts where B.O.B. isn’t “rapping” are awesome. If Haley wasn’t on this track i can guarantee it would have never even made it on the pop music radar.

  3. agreed. the dude sucks, and just comes off as whiny as hell. hayley williams makes the song somewhat listenable.

  4. Like to remind the uneducated fans of ‘Popular’ music that this song is the second release from B.o.B.’s new album. Following the the number one smash single… ‘NOTHIN’ ON YOU’ (feat’ Bruno Mars)!!! Both of these singles have been in Billboards & iTunes top ten for weeks… In the case of ‘Nothin’ on you’ for months! Probably more downloads than ‘Telephone’ and ‘Alejandro’!!!!

And my favorite from the album is ‘DON”T LET ME FALL’… give a listen… B.o.B. is going to be around for quite a while!!!

  5. The song is OK, but at the end of the day is just another rapper who’s been hailed as the next big thing. Two years ago was Kid Cudi, then Drake and now it’s BoB. So let’s enjoy the song for Hailey’s vocals until the next big hip hop smash comes along.

  6. Yah Haley’s part is amazing. Beautiful lyrics, music, and vocals, but the minute he starts rapping, I want to turn it off.
