Argentina Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage

If you think this guy’s hot enough to marry, we’ve got some really good news for you. He currently resides in the first Latin American country to legalize same-sex marriage. So now all you have to do is move down there, make him fall in love with you and put a ring on it.

Yup, after a fourteen-hour debate, Argentina has voted to let same-sex couples get married and adopt children together. In case you didn’t notice, this is pretty awesome news in the realm of equal rights. What do you think of this development?

  1. I think it’s just…right! Let’s hope this will be of example for other civilised and democratic countries, especially here in Europe. Sadly enough, there already are some stupid Facebook groups which are protesting and posting homophobic comments about this great achievement. We still have to win the battle against ignorance!

  2. Someday we will look back and go. Yeah I remember when it was not legal for gays to get married or not have equal rights. We have been here and always will be here. It is just a matter of timing.

  3. I think it is fantastic news…the sad part is that the US will probably be the LAST mafor country to ever think about such a thing…I have a feeling I will not live to see the day when gays are treated like equal citizens throughout the US (not just one or two states)…I think we should all stop paying taxes until we are given the sames basic rights all non-gay citizens enjoy! I guess I will have to move to Europe, or now Argentina, to have hopes of being legally married someday…

  4. I’ll never understand why people are against this. For me, whatever two (or more) mature, consenting people do is their own business so long as no one gets injured. Besides, how in the world can two men or women getting married devalue any straight couples marriage? Meh, live & let live.

  5. Very awesome.,., nice.,., hoping that i will also be married in a handsome guy with the legality of the government.,

  6. I think it is Great and KUDO’S to the Argentinians for being so forward thinking, while we here in the United States are still somewhere in the 1800’s not on on Same-sex marriages, but alot of issues.
now more then ever I want to visit that great country.

  7. KUDOS 2 Argentina, now if we can get tha rest of tha world & our own country on board…1 step @ a time!!!

  8. I agree with erick marriage is over rated. Just give us the rights and responsibilities of a leagalized couple. Lover and I have been together for 22yrs. Longer than most str8 marriages. Give it a different name and anyway why would I want to call it a marriage when 3/4 of marriages end in divorce.

  9. We here in the US still haven’t separated church and state to be honest. During no other conversation does religion matter more than during talk of gay marriage and “preserving the sanctity of marriage”. It never matters when public couples are caught cheating or the death penalty, or any other issue for that matter.

  10. Don’t hold the your breath? The US is so far behind other countries in so many ways it ain’t funny. The “world” leader…what a joke!

  11. Awesome job for Argentina! As for marriage being overrated, that’s your choice, and I would enjoy the choice of marriage instead of being forced to remain legally single. Unfortunately,it’s not really a Presidential problem but a Senate one- our politics can’t really change when the senators have been the same for 40 odd years. Sorry for the digression, I’m really happy for the Argentinians and their newfound freedoms

  12. I don’t feel like legalization of gay marriage by itself with do wonders, but it is a start. The big issue is awareness. How will people become more aware? And on the gay side I’m afraid that it also comes down to awareness of how gay people treat other gay people. And I think there are many things in many gay people’s lifes that don’t contribute to awareness. But I’m all for any shift that may one day lead to a better place…fingers crossed.

  13. I recently posted ( Governor of Hawaii vetos gay marriage bill ) I am not a fan of gay marriage but everyone should have the right 2 decide what is right 4 them .. 15. This year is the 10th anniversary of the Dutch same sex marriage, which was the first country. Now ten countries have followed. I think Luxemburg and Finland will be next. Argentina, my congratulations!!
