ANTM Dips It Low

Last night's episode of America's Next Top Model began with the usual foolishness. "Alright, girls! Let's jump off a cliff into the ocean. But you have to look fierce while doing it." The winner of the challenge (duh, Nicole) got more frames for her photo-shoot. She got to choose another model who got more frames. Then that model chose another model, and so on. The final girl would get half as many frames as the other girls. Can you guess who that was? Yup, Erin.

The five remaining contestants were hit-or-miss in their underwater shoot, but you could probably predict the bottom two without even seeing their pictures. One of them has been in danger of going home for two weeks in a row. The other should have been ousted a long time ago.

But rather than focus on those two, let's start talking about who will ultimately be in the top two. This is especially relevant, considering that next week's episode will incorporate a double elimination. Not to be confused with double penetration.

JENNIFER: I'm torn on this photo. A part of me thinks this is Jennifer's best photo yet–easy, breezy, beautiful and… serene. The other part of me looks at her face and just says "meh", wondering if she just got lucky with the lighting. I'd like to give her more credit than that.

NICOLE: It's quite possible that my ambiguous feelings on Jennifer's photo are triggered by the sheer awesomeness of Nicole's. I'm being radically critical on the former because I fail to grasp how her name was called before the obvious frontrunner. I don't care if she's not rocking her "Barbie toes", this has editorial written all over it. At least Marisa Miller agreed with me?

LAURA: Is there any way Laura won't be eliminated next week? Given how much I love her personality, this makes me extremely sad, but she honestly doesn't perform well enough to win this competition. Even if she made it to the top two, it'd be the most anticlimactic finale ever. With the exception of maybe Erin, all three remaining contestants have significantly stronger portfolios. At least Laura's been consistently decent?

ERIN: Yes, Erin should have been eliminated because of this photo. Keep your fingers crossed that she's off next week, because a Jennifer-Nicole finale would be quite spectacular. Honestly, is there anyone out there who still likes Erin? I couldn't understand why. Her performance has declined since the beginning of this cycle, and she's a complete brat.

SUNDAI: Sundai has pretty much made the same face in every photo she's ever taken (or at least every photo she's taken for ANTM). Is it wrong that I'm a fan of the one photo where you can hardly see her face? Aside from that and the lighting, this is a pretty spectacular pose. Andy and I had predicted before this episode aired that Sundai would be going home, but now I don't think she actually deserved to be eliminated.
