Amanda Palmer: “Do It With A Rockstar”

Do It With A Rockstar music video

People have very strong opinions about the latest crowd-sourced solo endeavor by Dresden Dolls vocalist Amanda Palmer. I’m not sure whether to classify my feelings on the project as ambivalence or complete indifference. In general, I fluctuate between respecting Palmer as an artist and finding her slightly irritating, which is not all that different from how I feel about Peaches‘ most recent work…

But, uh, who cares what I think (especially when I’m not sure what I think)? The music video for “Do It With A Rockstar” premiered last week, and it’s as queer as you’ll ever get. The opening sequence feels like an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked, and then the gender-bending and sexual fluidity continues on from there.

Check it out! Maybe you’ll have a strong opinion. Or two.

  1. I fucking love Amanda Palmer.
I won’t say the album was a work of genius, but some of the songs are just great.
I like this song, though not as much as “The Bed Song” or “Want It Back” though before judging her music shouldn’t you like her? (I’m asking the two who posted before me)
Her and the band are completely nice met her twice them once obviously I even got hugs and to talk normally bands are a bit…blasé about the fans.

  3. I absolutely love this video. I’ve been a big Amanda Palmer fan for a few years.

Yeah it could still be considered recently but her and her band really hit it off for me. The video was everything it should be: odd/non sequitur/personal. I also really want Coin Operated Boy as the song I want playing at my funeral. The naughty version 😛
