Here’s the thing about Swedish indie-pop! The lead vocalist could be singing about debilitating heartbreak, parole rape, genocide or Elton John‘s butt cheeks, and there’s a ninety percent chance that it’ll all sound like pure sunshine, rainbows and puppy parades.
On the surface level, Göteborg duo Alpaca Sports‘ “I Was Running” sounds all happy and fun. Then you get a glimpse of the lyrics, scratch your head, say to yourself “Okay then?”, and continue bopping along as if you didn’t notice anything. Don’t ask questions. That’s just how it works.
