Album Review: Swell by Cortes Alexander

Cortes Alexander- Swell
Though Cortes Alexander recently wrapped a sold-out run of Liza's at the Palace…! with Liza Minnelli, his solo album Swell has appeal beyond the Broadway crowd. The project finds Alexander collaborating with producer McKay Garner (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Michael Buble) for a collection of original songs and covers that incorporate too many genres and influences to list.
While the opening track "Every Other Thought" recalls the R&B crooner style of Robin Thicke, songs like "Empty Walls" sport an electro-rock vibe that would be at home on a Scissor Sisters album.  It's an adventure in A.D.D. musical tastes. One minute you'll be listening to an upbeat Latin-infused dance track and moments later you're crying over a country song.
If you can handle a little variety (I'm looking at you versatile boys), don't miss out on this exciting release from a seasoned vocalist. Also, let's not forget that he's openly gay and quite the looker. Listen and buy Alexander's album on iTunes, and you're in for some surprises.
