Album Review: Superficial by Heidi Montag

Heidi Montag, Superficial

How does one even begin to describe Heidi Montag's debut album Superficial? In her own words, it can be described as "Madonna-meets-Gwen Stefani, with a dose of Fergie and a little bit of Britney Spears." Does she have an accurate view of her own work? Not exactly. It's more like "songs Ashley Tisdale rejected because they were far too slutty."

Much like Ke$ha's Animal, Montag's debut is all about partying and believing that you're more awesome than you actually are. It's not as terrible as what you'd expect from a woman who's mostly famous for reality television and selling tabloids, but it's still pretty fucking terrible. To put it all into perspective, Paris Hilton's album sounds like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band when compared to this.

Though the production isn't always terrible, the lyrics tend to be. Take this gem for example: "It isn't fair that I wear diamonds for breakfast." Now imagine that line being sung by a voice that sounds like nails scratching a chalkboard. The actual song is worse than that. Wasn't Auto-Tune invented to make people like this sound better?

  1. one of the few reviews i actually read though, was interesting this time 🙂

  2. why even bother reviewing this? I mean…anyone in their right mind could have told you it was gonna be just terrible…but saying Paris Hilton’s album sounded like Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band compared…I guess the review is good just for that…really puts it in perspective just how awful it is…maybe the US soldiers will use it for interrogation purposes.

  3. To think she sung Lady Gagas ‘Fashion’ song first. I actually liked Heidi’s version of the song too. I know I know, getting ready to kill myself.
