Album Review: “Just A Rolling Stone” Donnie Klang

Donnie Klang - Just a Rolling Stone

He was turned down by American Idol but the MTV series Making The Band
single handedly launched Donnie Klang as their solo act on Bad Boy Records. He
released his debut album “Just A Rolling Stone” earlier week on Sept. 2.
His debut album consist of a collection of 17 tracks which feature
contributions from Sean “Diddy” Combs. He sings about all aspects of love and
lust from searching for the right girl to mending his broken heart.

The
Album suffers sadly from a case of too much Diddy, who’s been a huge instrument
in supporting Klang’s music and producing this album. Klangs vocals are
confident and melodic and the production on this album has overshadows it.
Describing his sound is kind of hard because I’m hearing a mixture:
electronic-pop, rectro-R&B and some funk. Some of his songs sound like
recycled N-Sync songs or badly-duplicated Justin Timberlake
songs. I don’t even think Donnie knows what type of artist he wants to be or
the direction he plans to go in. As an artist he is in his experimentation
stage trying to find his sound. I’m not at all sold on him as an artist as of
yet.
