Album Review: Hot Mess by Cobra Starship

Cobra Starship Cover

For Cobra Starship's Hot Mess, you're probably not expecting Gabe Saporta and his crew to produce the next Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. However, it's amazing that the band who made a name for themselves by recording the Snakes On A Plane theme song have created an album this good (or at least not that bad).

Surprise! There's much more to these guys than covering Katy Perry or hanging out with Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester. Though Hot Mess is packed with predictable, superficial tunes, songs like "Fold Your Hands Child" prove that the band may have more up their sleeves than self-aware references to Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz. These guys may not be The Beatles, but they have potential to give The Killers a run for their money.

  1. So I’m doing my first listen right now, and I gotta say, while their sound isn’t wholly original, it’s a really strong album.
