Album Review: Circus by Britney Spears

Britney Spears Circus

I recently got my hands on Britney Spears' latest album Circus and I am quite impressed. Unlike her previous album, Blackout, this one is a mix of dance songs and ballads. The album will be released on December 2, 2008; however if you pre-order the track now on iTunes, you will get an exclusive song titled "Trouble." Here are a few standout tracks from the disc:

The lead single off the disc,"Womanizer," starts the album off with a bang. The track is definitely a hit in the clubs and will make you want to get up and start dancing. This is what we expect from Britney and she does not disappoint.

The second single off the album is the title track "Circus." It is an up-tempo song that you can't help but sing along to. Britney compares her life to a circus where she is the ringleader and the dance floor is her stage. This song is one of my favorites from the album.

"Out From Under" is one of the few ballads on the album, but is already becoming one of my favorite tracks from Circus. The song is about the pain of going through a breakup and how she tries to forget about the other person. However, she is torn and it seems there are still some feelings left. I hope this song is not about Kevin!

"If U Seek Amy" is another up-tempo song that is about a girl named Amy that all the guys and girls want to have sex with. It is produced by Max Martin who also produced Britney's very first no.1 single "Baby One More Time."

A few other standout tracks are "Shattered Glass," "Kill the Lights," "Mannequin" and "Phonography." The latter track is this album's "Get Naked (I Got a Plan)." The song is very sexual and is about phone sex. I can not wait 'til they start playing that in the clubs.

Overall, I think the album will convert non Britney fans and bring back old ones. It is a good mixture of dance tracks and a few but good ballads. Britney is making her comeback and is ready to take the world by storm. Don't forget to check out her MTV documentary this Sunday, November 30th at 10 PM ET/PT.
