A Friendly Reminder To Wear Purple Tomorrow

Though it may be tacky to utilize naked men for this particular situation, we’re willing to do whatever it takes to get a positive message across. In case you haven’t heard, tomorrow has been designated as “Spirit Day“. Nearly 1.5 million individuals have pledged to wear purple in remembrance of Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh, Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase, Asher Brown, Billy Lucas, Zach Harrington and all other victims of homophobia.

Hopefully, these pictures of Justin Blakely will serve as a subconscious reminder to wear purple tomorrow, even if some folks would argue that it’s an entirely meaningless gesture. What do you think–will you be showing your support?

  1. Anything can be given meaning if enough people participate with a purpose. I’ll be wearing purple tomorrow. I hope many others do as well.

  2. RIP;; Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh, Justin Aaberg, Raymond Chase, Asher Brown, Billy Lucas, Zach Harrington.

Your death’s will be remembered, && your death’s will not be in vein.

  3. Tyler Clementi wasn’t a victim of homophobia… he just hated having red hair and a pink bunny dick.

  4. I’ll definitely be wearing purple tomorrow. *nodnod* meaningless gesture or not, it’s still a gesture…R.I.P. >.<

And oh Gods. I know it's in bad taste, but Justin can cock-a-doodle-do me. Pleasenaokthnxbai.

  5. Such a sad, fitting, and thoughtful thing to do. But on a happier note, The masturbation toy our model above is using on himself was fashoined out of Justin Aaberg’s lower colon and anus just minutes after his death.

  6. unbelievable what is happening to civility and tolerance in this country. yes folks, we’re on the descent into hell, courtesy of all those self-centered, self-absorbed, self-loathing and hating sick mother-fuckers (thanks for being so considerate there momomonkey and HTJackass (names sure seem to fit)) who think that posting their crap here does anything other than point them out as the morons who, due to lack of respect for others, living and dead, are helping to tear apart the fabric of this once great nation. you want a theocracy? chaos perhaps?? well, as you tear down the walls of civility and tolerance, by keeping this shit up you’re gonna get it! The Taliban and other religious-based extremists aren’t that far removed from some of those who would have you bowing down to God and them at every turn. have fun while you can, cause change, its a coming!

And while we’re on it, from today’s headlines, courtesy of the Tea Potty candidate in DE, the Constitution is in danger, and its not coming from outside of the US. No way, we’re doing it ourselves. No truer words were even word-ballooned than by Pogo: “we have met the enemy and they is us”

  7. i have one shitty purple shirt and i dont see what nearly 1.5 million people wearing purple will really do …but ill be wearing it sooo make that nearly 1.5 million and one?

  8. of course I’ll be wearing purple tomorrow….. who’s going to be the ass thst will not? This must stop! Take a stand! We pray for all, who have and unfortunately will be efected by someone’s stupidity.

  9. We are not wearing purple to remember the individuals that decided to take their own lives – we are wearing purple to bring attention to the bullying and homophobia that is rampant out there.

As hard as it is, we must not make those individuals appear as martyrs otherwise many many more will see suicide as an easy way to end their pain by convincing them that it is ok and that they will do us some good. They won’t. They will do more good in standing up and working with others to end all of this.

We need to be speaking to the issues of Hate; Intolerance; Bullying.

  10. I fail to see how wearing anything be it a ribbon, a logo, a color, et al is going to affect anything.

It’s all a feel-good, let’s-hold-hands, namby-pamby concept some individual idiot or group came up with because they don’t live in reality.

Teaching and practicing tolerance at home, in schools, in the workplace, and even in personal social circles is more effective and, shock, horror, dismay, is actually considered an active means of battling this issues.

It’s ok though. I’m sure “Spirit Day” will have about as much impact as approaching Kim Jong-Il and discussing democracy.

  11. THAT is a nice cock….too bad it’s attached to a twinky looking dude, but i could get past that 🙂

  12. Of course wearing purple isn’t going to solve the world’s problems. But it’s a sentiment. It shows support.

  13. I quite agree with the writer of that McGill article. Though it’s so sad that those six lost their lives to ignorance, and I mourn their unnecessary deaths, I fear we may be just turning these type of events into something frivolous. We already have The Day of Silence in April, which is supposed to raise awareness for bullying and homophobia already. We have the various Pride weeks that Cities put on. And, as a sort of stretch, there is the AIDS awareness month in December, which isn’t only about awareness of HIV/AIDS, but is in a way awareness of the prejudice homosexuals face surrounding the stereotype with us and the disease.
I worry that we are setting up too many days, and we’re just going to start turning into that nagging white noise. “Oh look, the gays are protesting about something again… When aren’t they protesting?”
I have very open friends, and I am out to all of them. But one of my friends summed it up well in her status with “Really? Another day? Don’t you already have a few?” I didn’t even know the existence of this day until I read her status. I asked her about it, and she said she spent 15 minutes at her university being preached at by the Gay alliance, essentially trying to guilt everybody into wearing purple for tomorrows date, because it was “the right and humane” thing to do…

I don’t own purple, so I won’t be wearing any. And if I did, I doubt I would any way. My university isn’t backwards like some American ones, and taking part in this would pretty much be preaching to the choir, so to speak. In Edmonton, up here in “redneck alberta” we are all fully aware of bullying and homophobia, and we’ve all but stamped it out. High School kids get big fines here if they harass anyone. This past couple months I’ve been shocked to here that the “land of the free” is not so kind to it’s “citizens”.

But, if you feel you’re supporting people by taking part in this, by all means do it. Your heart is definitely in the right place. You got nothing to lose by wearing purple. 🙂

  14. I wonder how many people who will be wearing purple would actually intervene in a situation of bullying if the time came for it.

  15. @brech: Great write-up! I think Canada’s got it right. We in the US have craploads of bureaucratic redtape, and continue to fail when it comes to assessing things that are plain and simple.

Your friend who mentioned that we have “another day” for yet another cause is spot on. And of course, the following day it’s back to business as usual. Heart is in the right place for wearing purple, but a gesture-of-the-day nonetheless.

  16. trolls?
    what the hell is this?
we have sadness for homophobia hurting young men – and then we put such invictitudes against each other? To hell with homophobia.
The biggest homophobia’s are gay men judging every single group and finding fault for their lack of preference for that
    look
    colour
    age
    image
    aethetics
    dick size

it’s an endless list of simply this
minorities are the most judgemental of all groups – then a gay man who calls a guy a troll goes boo hoo when he’s called a FAG?

No sympathy for people who openly judge.
If we can’t humanize ourselves and learn
how to love / accept: self/ others – then
    we have not learned anything.

It’s like a guy that bare backs for 5 years and won’t have sex with a person who admits to having HIV because he only does negative
guys. Hypocrisisy is in all of us – and I
wish we could embrace these contradictions
    with love .

Others and self – not so different.
Let’s have a day – where we suspend judgement. Now that would be a holiday.

We might – oh my god! – have to focus on
the positive and beautiful in life without
finding fault! Now there’s a noble challenge.

And who would want to have a 30 waist at 50.
I’m 56 and 33 and work hard at it. 47 chest, and a 9 inch dick with cum chugging low hangers and a great ass – KRUGLES is the secret. And I have done a mild flirt with a younger guy with no sexual intention to get down and dirty and been called troll to my face.

Youth, you can have it. I prefer men as men
for men. Leave the children to masturbate their low self esteem. My innocence makes me feel 21 forever. And I work damn hard for it.

No more fag, no more troll, no more putting others into a black hole and being shocked when we see suicide in all ages.

We do it to each other.
It’s just something we always have done.
It’s not something we do to others and therefore allowed to cry WOLF!

    TOLERANCE
    COMPREHENSION
    KNOWLEDGE
    WISDOM.

It is a process – can we try it?
