Weekly Top Ten: Invasion of The Slow Jams

To say that "slow jams" are invading our Weekly Top Ten may be a bit of a misrepresentation. Even so, the latest entries on our charts are a little less dance-tastic than what you're used to, so we'll see if the newbies can keep up with their club-ready counterparts. I mean, why's it always got to be about pace?

Just yesterday, Jay Sean was set to debut in the number three spot with "Down", and then seemingly overnight he slipped to the bottom three. Intriguing, eh? He'll be kicked off the charts along with Miley Cyrus, Calvin Harris and the Black Eyed Peas. But at least they got a chance to get in the mix. Natalie Imbruglia, Little Boots and Whore's Mascara were eliminated in our Wild Card round before they even had a chance.

If you're new to the Weekly Top Ten, why don't I suck your cock while trying to explain with my mouth full? Or I could just explain the rules now. Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three moving to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we saved and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts.

So what do you have to do to get your favorite song on the list? Well, it won't be pretty, unless you're used to slings and seventeen power tops. But if you'd rather keep your dignity, just leave a comment suggesting your jam for next week. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if it gives us a boner... you might see it here next week!

1. Robbie Williams - Bodies (LW - 1): I wrote a song. It goes like this. "Oops! Robbie's done it again. He's played with the charts, the top of the game." Not catchy enough? Well, at least it captures the situation. For the second week in a row, Robbie has plunged ahead of Brit at the last minute. We still don't understand what's going on!
2. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance (LW - 2): With the final version finally here, we can now justify this song owning its number two spot. Of course, it should be in the number one spot! Where the hell are all the crazy Gaga fans who drove us crazy for weeks?
3. Britney Spears - 3 (LW - 4): I try to be annoyed by this song. Seriously! But every time I hear that chorus it makes me want to slut it up on the dance-floor. I'm talking some "center of attention, even when we're up against the wall" butt-humping action. 
4. Florence + The Machine - You've Got The Love (LW - 7): In a surprising last minute jump, Florence Welch has taken the number four spot. I'd like to think my album review had something to do with it, no? Or it could just be that she's awesome.
5. Shakira - She Wolf (LW - 3): Shakira almost slipped off for a minute! We've moved on to grooving to her second single "Did It Again", but it's still nice to see her still in the game. How much longer can she last?
6. Rihanna - Russian Roulette (DEBUT): Say what you want to say about Rihanna's latest single; there's no denying that this was a bold artistic move. Even though this song isn't as immediately catchy as her previous work, it's hauntingly alluring. Just in time for Halloween!
7. Robin Thicke - Sex Therapy (LW - 10): As charming as the straight boy video of "Party in the U.S.A." was, Ms. Cyrus has already been thrown a lifeline. We seriously don't mind keeping Robin around in her place. This song will definitely get you in the mood!
8. Owl City - Fireflies (WILD CARD): When I heard Owl City's "Hello Seattle" several years ago, I would have never predicted that he'd have a top ten Billboard hit. But in a world where hopes of another Postal Service album are slim to none, he just might be the best consolation prize.
9. Adam Lambert - Time For Miracles (DEBUT): Your reviews of Lambert's latest single were mixed, so it's impossible to say if he'll stick around for very long. On the other hand, there's something to be said for supporting your fellow man-lovers.
10. Alicia Keys - Doesn't Mean Anything (DEBUT): Though this isn't Alicia's best work, it's very far from unpleasant. There's no denying that this girl can sing, but I really wish this one had a little more oomph in it. Maybe there's a remix on the way?

OK. These charts are getting more interesting week after week. Here's my suggestion and it's more on the dance side of the story. There's a song I play a lot on my Ipod lately by Chilean-Danish singer Medina. Her single is called "You and I" and it's already getting a lot of airplay in the UK. Give it a listen and decide for yourselves.
